Alphonsa Nrithalayam was conceptualized when a group of parents expressed their desire to enable children learn various classical dance forms. Though there are several formal and informal dance schools, the challenge for parents was to manage the logistics, for children to manage the demands of academics and paucity of time during weekdays.

Our enterprising Vicar, Rev. Fr. Roy proactively utilized this opportunity to establish a dance school. Thus, on January 20, 2019 we inaugurated ‘Alphonsa Nrithalayam’ under the aegis of highly accomplished, proficient dancer Kruthi Ashok Kumar.

19 students joined Alphonsa Nrithalayam, where classes are held every Sunday for 2 hours within our Church premise, thereby catering to the needs of parents and our dear children. Our students learnt the 2 most popular classical dance forms – Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. They have also performed a well-orchestrated and phenomenal Thiruvathira as part of the Onam celebrations held in our Church.

Their ‘moment of joy’ was when these budding dancers had their ‘Arangettam’ or first performance on the feast of our Patroness St. Alphonsa held in July 2019. A proud moment for our Church was when our students won the 2nd prize for group dance in Bible Kalotsavam conducted by Eparchy of Mandya, held in October 2019.

Our year old Alphonsa Nrithalayam did not see any drop out among students. This is a true testimony to the interest, passion and dedication our children have towards learning dance and being accomplished dancers one day

We are grateful to Rev. Fr. Roy for establishing Alphonsa Nrithalayam.

Our sincere gratitude to members of our Cultural Committee, Parents and Parishioners With your continued support and blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ, we will conquer greater heights in the coming years.
